"Haynesville" takes place in the Louisiana backwoods, and follows the momentous discovery of the largest natural gas field in the United States (and maybe the world). The film examines the historic find (a formation called the "Haynesville Shale") from the personal level as well as from the higher perspective of the current energy picture and pending energy future.
Why It's FilmBuff
We ask a lot of documentaries. We want them to be informative and enlightening. We want them to capture a moment in time. We even want them to entertain us when we tire of fiction. Haynesville delivers on all these fronts, but it takes us a step further. This film places us squarely in the center of the personal struggles a community faces when 'everything changes.' You will learn a lot about the fracking phenomenon, but more importantly you will walk away understanding the personal toll exploring our energy future can create.
