In the school of the ever-cool Swedish films sweeping the US, Avalon follows an aging club promoter Janne having finished serving time in house arrest and just reunited with his former business partner Klas. Looking forward to the launch of their new elite night club Avalon in Båstad (the Hamptons of Sweden), Janne is constantly accompanied by his recently divorced sister Jackie. The good times seem to have returned for the trio, but when a catastrophe occurs Janne's new lifestyle and dreams of a new path seem to be indefinitely put on hold. In Swedish with English Subtitles.
"It's a fascinating and ultimately haunting movie, partly because of the way Petersen choreographs his characters, but also because of those characters themselves."
Variety
"A 31-year old Swedish director has taken a swipe at a segment of Sweden's older generation in his first feature film, Avalon....Its three main characters are all over 60, and they behave very, very badly."
